Setup

This guide explains how to set up a tournament and start using Poker Buddy.

Player list

Use this menu to decide who is playing in the tournament.

Set Number of Players to select how many players there are in the tournament. Tapping on a player slot lets you add a new contact, pick from an existing contact or leave them as a guest player without contact information.

The Edit button at the top will allow you to remove players from the list.

Try using pictures for your friends - much more satisfying when they’’re knocked out!

Chips/Money

Configure how many starting chips the players and the buy-in cost, as well as the chips and cost during the tournament when re-buying and adding-on.

Choose the total re-buys & add-ons allowed per player, and the last round that they can do so.

To modify the chips & cost, simply select the category to change, or select All, followed by the Change button to set them individually or all at once.

Blinds structure

Use this menu to set up the general structure of the blinds (compulsory bets) - how long each round of the tournament will last, and the ante amount per blind level.

The table in the lower part of the screen gives a quick view detailing the start and end blind levels.

The selector below this controls how fast or slow the blinds will increase - providing you a quick way to setup your tournament structure!

To edit the levels individually, no problem, just press the Edit blinds button above to change them individually to your satisfaction.

Prizes structure

Here you decide who takes home the winnings! Using the + and - buttons, assign a percentage of the winnings to the players finishing in the top ten.

The tube to the right displays how much is left to allocate (a full tube means there’s no prizes!).

Prevent sleep mode

Turning this on will prevent your device from entering sleep mode.

This will increase battery usage.

To preserve battery life, lower the screen brightness level in the iPhone / iPod Touch settings menu. Alternatively, make sure you are fully charged or plugged in to the mains when using this option.

Post game to internet

A unique feature to Poker Buddy, if enabled this will automatically create a tournament webpage online so others can use a normal internet browser to see the game!

At the start of the tournament, the players will be e-mailed a hyperlink so it’s easy to find. The address will also appear on the screen so it can be entered manually.

Play in background

Poker Buddy will never lose your tournament if you are interrupted during a game.

Enabling this option allows you to go one step further by letting the tournament continue even whilst the application isn’t running. Restarting the application during a tournament automatically resumes to the correct elapsed point.

Load/Save game setup

Use this to save and load entire game and player setups so you can switch between defined poker groups quickly and easily.
