The Pit’s a tricky one. It’s been a while since I played it, but I remember setting down both a ground and aerial slow by the entrance point, then working on long range defences (sniper, beam, artillery) to cover the first two gates. When the gates fell (pretty early IIRC), I switched to building in the bottom left of the rectangle enclosed by the paths.

Couple of things I noticed about the tower setup you linked was that they didn’t use boosters (which improve range and rate of fire as well as raw damage), and they had a lot of weapons that hit only ground or only flying enemies. I’d probably put a few more double duty towers in. You might also want to think about how you’re using your ship weapons. If you know a particular type of wave is going to be trouble, you might want to just nuke it the moment it shows up, rather than letting it chip away at your barriers and Commander.

Let us know how you get on.

And I can confirm that it is possible, at least on easy, to make it through the level in campaign mode and still have all three barriers standing and in decent shape at the end of wave 120.

Also, I would ditch the bomb tower for the artillery tower; they both have the same role, but the arty is much better at it.

Any tips or screenshots Hunter? I’ve given up for now, stopped playing the game entirely.

I’ve tried a unreal many of times to beat this level on hard. I have all weapons and am maxed out. Until someone proves otherwise, I think it’s not possible to beat this on hard.

Unfortunately we don’t have any records of completion for each level and difficulty, so we can’t confirm this either way, though we have plenty of hardcore players who go straight to Psycho mode who I’d expect to be able to pull off victories. I’ll ask around a bit and have a crack at it myself <img decoding=

OK, it’s possible – definitely not easy though!

What I did was save up at the start as much as possible – by wave 60 I only had two beams and one artillery out and fully upgraded. I got my repair drones out early, and used the Turret Energizer ship weapon and Plasma Rain Commander abilities the moment anything looked tricky (bosses, amphibians). Plasma Rain and Repair Beam were both a huge help, though I don’t usually use them. Make sure things die in the Commander’s aura, because you’ll really need that ship energy.

Once your savings get into four figures and the interest starts racking up you’re golden, as you can see I could afford to start spamming towers toward the end. Still needed that Turret Energiser though!

Right, i’ve finally cracked it. The key as people have said is to use longer range towers and orbital weapons. The biggest thing I had to do different from normal was to use a Canon thingy. Those orangy red critters were the biggest problem, until my defenses were good I used an orbital weapon with them each time.

I’ve attached three images showing progress, I only started taking them once I knew it was going well. From memory I started with a laser tower thingy, then added a Canon tower, and added the slow towers early on.

Congrats! I noticed you aren’t using any Boosters – any particular reason for that? They’re really effective.

I forgot to add them to my arsenal. They’re pretty expensive too, and it’s hard to judge how effective they are.

Eh, boosters have variable usefulness depending on two main factors:

One, what towers they’re boosting. The higher damage towers get more use out of them compared to the cheaper, lower damage towers. Beam and Sniper towers are the best choice.

And two, how many towers they can boost based on placement. If it’s just boosting two Beam or Sniper towers, you’re likely better off placing down another tower. If it’s boosting a full "square" of eight towers, then it’s better than another tower.

In short, eight Sniper towers surrounding a Booster is awesome. A Booster attached to one basic Laser tower is useless.

Try farming some more money with only drones and slow towers in early boss waves (sell your line lasers to make the bosses survive longer). The middle island should be full with snipers, beams and slows by wave 100.
